Trip Overview
Follow Offa's ancient dyke through the stunning Wye Valley on this marathon-distance trek. Offa's Dyke is the longest archaeological monument in Britain — a 1,200-year-old earthwork built by the Mercian king to mark the border with Wales. Our marathon section follows the most dramatic portion through the Wye Valley AONB. The Wye Valley is one of Britain's most beautiful river valleys, with steep wooded gorges, dramatic limestone cliffs, and the iconic Tintern Abbey. The walking combines riverside paths with high ridgeline sections offering panoramic views across the Welsh Marches.
Who is this for?
A challenging marathon walk with more climbing than the Cotswold Way equivalent. The Wye Valley terrain is steep in places. Good fitness and hill walking experience recommended.
